DedicatedToBallroom.com was launched on December 26, 2009 to bring together people involved in competitive-level dancing in Ireland & UK – whether you compete actively, do performance, ‘just practice’–‘just dance’ or you are simply interested in dancesport in Ireland, UK and abroad. The website is here to share information resources, a platform for cooperation, coordination of efforts and discussion, as well as simply fun and interaction for all involved in competitive-level dancing in UK & Ireland.

If you are new to competitive or any level of dancing, be welcome here. Hopefully you will find what you need ‘to get a taste’ of competitive-level dancing here, if you have not got to it yet. If you have any questions, feel free to post them in the Dance Cafe forum and we will do our best to help.

I have made some improvements in the various components of this website in the last few days. Overall I have changed the design of the web pages. The website is designed to be viewed mainly on regular displays with screen resolutions at least 1024x768. However, as people view it also on iPods and iPhones I have made some changes in the design that the pages should be relatively better viewable on small screens like that than as it was before. Of course, it is better when you can browse the web on a larger screen but when you don’t have it available, this way it should be possible to get to the content and post even from iPhones. I don’t have an iPhone to test it, so let me know. 

In the small event calendar displayed on every page dates without any events are in dark grey, dates with events (competitions, etc.) are red links. Clicking the link you see the events on that day and you can go to see the event details and discussion. You can post a new event directly from the small calendar, when you are registered or browse the full calendar (including other months than the current one).

The ‘polling system’ has been improved. (A 'poll' is a question with a set of possible options to answer with. It is possible to define a poll, where only 1 option may be chosen or multiple options are allowed.) Everyone (registered) can create their own dance polls to see what others are doing, (would) like, dislike, etc. A random poll out of all polls entered is always displayed in the left column along content on this website for users to vote and see the total results what others have voted. More on polls is in  “How to use this website’s features”.

You know it from your dancing, giving feedback is important for any improvement. The same with this web. I’ve got a bit of interesting feedback that I have received. The person said she thought her dance skills and knowledge was not enough to participate and post on this web, so I would like to make this clear. This web is not only for the top two couples in Ireland. This web is here for everyone who cares about technique – how they dance to enjoy it, regardless of the level of skills. Everyone from complete beginners to top professionals has to learn and improve all the time. That is what everyone is here for. If you feel you can enjoy your dancing better when you try to improve in it, this web is here for you to talk about all that interests you. If you can think of a better expression for this than ‘competitive dancing’ or ‘for those who care about technique’, I’ll use it .

DanceSport Photo & Video Gallery for dancers’ photos has been open on DedicatedToBallroom.com.

Do you have DanceSport related photos or videos that you would like others to see? You can display them in the Gallery for DanceSport in UK & Ireland and abroad on DedicatedToBallroom.com. The Website How-To page has been updated with a new section ‘Photo & Video Gallery’ with information on how to create your own album(s) and upload photos there. The Gallery is accessible from the table of contents on the main page. (You need to be a registered user on the website to be able to use the Gallery.) Enjoy it!
