Hi Stas, Laura,

Congratulations on the great success at the World Championships! For those of us who were not there, could you, or maybe Brian, tell us about the competition there? I'm sure I am not the only one interested in hearing all about it! Thanks

Hi Maggie,
The competition was held at the Olympic sports centre in Riga,Latvia. It was a lovely venue with a nice floor and atmosphere.
There was 45 countries who took part in this event. The first round was taken in 5 heats. After a long break the evening session began with the 48. This was the second round. At the beginning  of the evening every country was announced one bye one. Both of our families had one table at the edge of the dance floor.
In total there was 5 rounds. As we got to the semifinal we knew this was our chance to make all of our hard work pay off. The quickstep finished and the results were up immediately. I went over to see had we made the final and our name wasn't on the sheet. I felt disappointment run through my whole body. I was just about to turn and tell my Mam and Dad when i looked at the sheet and noticed at the top it said couples dropped out. I turned and jumped into my mam and Dads arms. Stas was getting Water and i ran i jumped onto his back. I was thrilled.
As the final was announced the couples were introduced. We were the last to walk out. It was what I dreamed of, for years. Afterwards the results were called out and we came 3rd in waltz and 7th in the other dances. We went into the final in fourth place. Overall the experience was amazing and hopefully many more to come. Thank you for all your support.
Sincerely,
Laura

Hi Laura,

Wow! That must have been amazing! I am happy that you are here on DedicatedToBallroom now to tell us about the comp. Thank you very much! It was very interesting to read it.
I am sure it must have been very pleasant immediate change of mood when you realized the names on the table were for those who dropped out! ;D

Hi Laura & Stas,

Congratulations on the great success you had at the World Championships! Well done! Your families can be proud of you and we certainly are! I know it must have been a lot of hard work put in it but you are beautiful dancers and I am sure next year you will get even higher.

Now I guess again 'time to work', are you getting ready for another competition soon? UK Open? Are you going? Or another competition closer? Thank you for sharing your experiences with us here and good luck with your dancing!
